Senior Lecturer of Elemental Music & Dance EducationElemental Music & Dance Education – Orff Institute

Andrea Ostertag grew up in Salzburg and graduated in Elemental Music and Dance Education at the Orff Institute. Since 1991 she has been a lecturer at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University, where she teaches Bachelor and Master students in the fields of dance and pedagogy. The combination of music, dance and language in transdisciplinary contexts is a special concern of hers.

Andrea Ostertag studied "Elemental Music and Movement Education" with a focus on dance at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University. After graduating in 1988, she taught early music and dance education at the Salzburg Music School and dance at the Carl Orff Elemental School in Traunwalchen. Until 2001 she taught international folk dances at the Paris Lodron University in Salzburg. From 2018 to 2022 she worked as a lecturer in the Pre-College (Movement to Music). Since 1987 she has been giving continuing education courses for educators and students, in university courses, Orff Schulwerk societies and other music or dance-specific institutions in Austria, Germany, Taiwan, Spain, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, France, China, among others , the USA, England, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Iran, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Thailand, Russia and Singapore. In cooperation with Kulturkontakt Austria, she implements music and dance projects in compulsory schools in Salzburg. She is a trained Shiatsu therapist, was part of the ClownDoctors team in Salzburg for 24 years and was a member of the music cabaret group die muhTanten for a number of years. In 2012 she graduated as a  Master of Arts at the Paris Lodron University Salzburg in music and dance studies. For many years she has been a staff member and organizer of the International Summer Course. She is the head of the university course "Elemental Music and Movement Education" and the postgraduate course "Advanced Studies in Music and Dance Education - Orff Schulwerk". Since April 1, 2022, she has held the position of deputy head of department at the Orff Institute.
